ODD

Here it started, words by our sweet singer Sara Luosta.

Two years ago I decided to ignore my fears and look for my own band from Muusikoiden.net with a wanted ad for “Jamming and heartfelt music”.

“I’m looking to put together a band that has soft natural singing with rhythmic jamming / mystical new age tones / nature sounds. — …natural and true, nothing try-hard or more dramatic than it really is. — …weekly jamming. How will there ever be real and honest music from the heart if you don’t let the joy and the cleansing of music just flow out freely? — In future performances I’d like to favor a style that is as naked and real as the music itself”

A short while ago, I asked Jux and Carlo how they remember that time.

Jux:
“The key words that triggered me to answer were the jamming and the naturalness” “The aims you set felt meaningful” He also reminded that we haven’t followed the rule of weekly jamming! Better make up for that!

His answer back in 2014 made me very curious and impressed.

“Being a LOT older than you, my influences are very diverse lot of groups and artists, from delta blues and cajun music to appalachian bluegrass, traditional folk music from Iran to Ireland, from sixties psychedelia to punk and especially the experimental music after punk. — I play everything with strings on it, guitar with or without amplification, with or without slide, mostly fingerpicking”

From the beginning he asked always the right questions, and had good answers for mine. Us two form the obsessively talkative part of the group, I feel…

Carlo:
Sweet as always, he said “…we met in the Posti library, and there I found what is lovely musical company. I always remember how we were listening to my Sorsalampi Duo record…”

A slice of his answer from 2014: “I’m a guitarist moved from Italy to Finland one year ago, and I’m really interested in ambient and atmospheric music ( I have also a solo project named Sounds From The Marshes ), I usually uses delay and reverbs.”

Carlo was the driving force in our jams from the beginning, and his music is hauntingly beautiful.

I was extremely scared during this getting together process, and felt musically inferior. I remember well the first jam, being too scared to talk. We sat quiet in the car, and didn’t say much in the house either – and then we started playing. Despite my fears, I felt immediately connected to these people. I felt peace and awesome excitement, and wondered what I had been waiting for. Thank you
